Louisiana hits record COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations
The Louisiana Department of Health announces 6,797 new COVID-19 cases reported to the state since July 26, 2021 -- second highest single-day case count reported since January 6, 2021 (6,882 cases reported that day). Also today, 1,390 people are hospitalized with COVID-19 in Louisiana.

Gov. Edwards, LDH update COVID-19 guidance, recommending all Louisianans now wear masks indoors for the duration of Louisiana's fourth COVID surge
Today Gov. John Bel Edwards and the Louisiana Department of Health issued updated guidance recommending that all people, both vaccinated and unvaccinated, wear masks indoors when at least six feet of distancing is not physically possible during the fourth surge of COVID-19.More LDH News

DCFS Encouraging Parents to Sign Up for Free or Reduced-Price Lunches before July 30 to be Eligible for Summer P-EBT
In anticipation of federal approval of Louisiana's Summer Pandemic EBT (P-EBT) program, the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) and the Louisiana Department of Education are asking parents who qualify for, but do not currently receive, free or reduced-price lunches to apply for those benefits with their schools or school districts by Friday, July 30, 2021.

LDWF to begin accepting applications for $12.4 million in COVID-19 relief funds
LDWF will soon begin accepting applications for $12.4 million in financial assistance that will be available to Louisiana fishermen and others in the industry who have been financially affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Applications for these funds will open at 8 a.m., Monday August 9.
